| The core of Southwestern Native American spiritual life resides in the Kiva. The round masonry walls of the living room of The Warbler House are reminiscent of this regional tradition. The massive native-stone walls and masonry chimney also provide thermal mass that can be heated by the high- efficiency wood burning stove in the winter. The masonry is thermally isolated from the exterior of the home so that it does not overheat the interior in the summer.
The adjacent dining area—where the ceiling soars to 19 feet— overlooks the living room. |
